As a part of understanding the record number of reported oil spills in Weld County in the last 18 months, we’re taking a look at the number of wells drilled vs plugged and abandoned over the last years. While drilling by well count peaked in 2008, Colorado oil & gas operators have consistently plugged and abandoned more wells than they’ve drilled since 2016.
